わびすけ新寮＆福智山ろく花公園＆さつき松原

Wabisuke Shinryo Restaurant is located at the foot of a mountain in Nogata. Lunch set comes with appetizer, entree, and desert with rich seasonal ingredients for 1500 yen. Everything was so delicious and just a right portion to make me full. The restaurant is a magnificent traditional wooden house with modern interiors. The owner told us that there are monkeys, wild boars, and raccoons coming out of woods sometimes.

わびすけ新寮は直方の山の麓にあるレストランです。ランチセットは旬の材料いっぱいの前菜、アントレー、デザートで１５００円。全てとっても美味しくてお腹いっぱいになるちょうどいい量でした。レストランは伝統的な木造の立派な家屋で、中はとてもモダンなインテリア。オーナーさんのお話しでは、たまに山から猿、猪、狸なんかが出てくるんだとか。

After lunch was "Fukuchiyama Sanroku Flower Park".  It was such a hot day today. Leaves were turning red and yellow just a little bit. It's unbelievably hot for November! I was excited to see some fall foliage during this trip but so far I'm out of luck. I saw a lot of beautiful greens and flowers in this park instead.

ランチの後は福智山ろく花公園。今日はほんとに暑い日でした。葉っぱはほんのすこーーしだけ赤や黄色に変わりつつありました。それにしても１１月とは思えないこの暑さ！せっかく今回の旅では紅葉が見れるかと思って楽しみにしていたのに、今のところありつけず。代わりにこの公園ではたくさんのきれいな緑や花が見れました。

Satsuki Matsubara (matsubara means pine grove) is the beach I'd visited for swimming every single summer in my childhood. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and the water is (was) so clear. I can never forget one abnormally warm summer when there were full of tropical type of colorful fish swimming around in a shallow area of this sea. It was just so unbelievable. I enjoyed snorkeling for hours looking at those colorful fish (so many of them!!) right in front of my face. That was one time only experience. Summer in Japan is so humid and hot that I'm not sure if I can handle it anymore but visiting this special beach of mine to swim is something I want to do again in the future.

さつき松原は子供の頃夏には欠かさず海水浴に来た海です。浜辺は松の木に囲まれ、水はとても澄んできれいです。（でした）今でも忘れられないのですが、ある時、それは異常なほど暑い夏だったのですが、この海の浅瀬で熱帯魚のような色鮮やかな魚達が泳ぎ回っていたことがありました。本当に信じられない現象で、何時間もシュノーケリングでほんとにたくさんのカラフルな魚達を目の前で眺めることができました。それはたった一度きりの貴重な体験でした。蒸し暑い日本の夏に耐えれるか、今となっては怪しいのですが、私にとっては特別なこの海で、またいつか泳ぎたいなあ、と思ったりします。

The sun was about to set when we came home. It was hot pink in my naked eyes but the camera couldn't capture it. The day ended peacefully with the sunset.

帰宅すると、太陽はちょうど沈むところでした。肉眼では濃いピンクだったのですが、カメラでは捉えきれませんでした。こうして日没と共に一日が平和に終わりました。
