The weather has been nice and that led me to have a productive month.

I'm resting my hands a little bit now and slowly starting to think of what will be the next to work on.

January Creation #1

Happy (belated) New Year!

Creation of the month so far.

The first half of January was spent on with lots of metalworking, lots of stone-setting that went well or sometimes not so well.. and the second half will be with dainty style simple wire-wrapping necklaces and bracelets.

How’s the fresh start going for you so far?

The recent cold, dark and rainy weather has taken away my motivation of wanting to go out.

I find myself trying to stay home as much as I could..!

Why not.

The day is getting longer and longer day by day though. I like that.

遅ればせながら、あけましておめでとうございます。

制作面、いまのところこんなかんじです。

1月前半は彫金作業、特に石留めでうまくいったりいかなかったり、
という日々だったので、後半は主に華奢でシンプルめなネックレスやブレスレットを、
と思っております。

新年のスタート、みなさんはいかがお過ごしでしょうか。

このところの寒くて暗くて雨降りな天候で、すっかり出不精に陥っています。。

できる限り家から出たくない！

そんなときもありますね。

日が長くなってきているのは嬉しいことです。

Goodbye 2018

The year 2018 ends soon.

I feel like a lot happened this year although the vision of candy cane lane from last year

comes back too vividly like yesterday. 

Jewelry wise, this year was full of adventure.

The most desired styles and materials were simple, gold & silver mixed metals, 

mixed stones and herkimer diamond raw quartz.

I introduced solid gold to the collection and received great responses.

I continue on with this trend next year, excited to create

something new and maybe a little bit more advanced. 

2018年もそろそろ終わり。

振り返ると色んなことがあったように思えるけれど、

去年のキャンディケーンレーン(クリスマスイルミネーションが見られる住宅街の一角)

の風景が昨日のことのように鮮やかに蘇ってもくる、そんな一年でした。

ジュエリーの面では、山あり谷あり冒険あり、だったなぁ。

人気だったのは、シンプルなデザイン、ゴールドとシルバーを合わせた

ミックスメタル、ミックスストーンのスタイルやハーキマーダイアモンドを使ったものなど。

ソリッドゴールドも導入したところ、まずまずの反響。

来年も引き続きこのスタイルを継続しつつ、

もうちょっと捻ったりして新作に励むとします。

Hello December & New Jewelry Creation

December has arrived and I continue to create new jewelry in the last month of the year.

Herkimer diamond, mixed metals and mixed gemstone items, etc.

Metals used here are solid yellow gold, yellow or rose gold filled and oxidized sterling silver.

I also intend to feature December’s birthstones, turquoise, lapis lazuli, tanzanite and zircon.

More metals are arriving soon so I can catch up with some more new stuff.

 

Hope everyone will stay warm and keep away from flu and cold throughout the winter season.

12月の到来。今月も新作に励もうと思っています。

ハーキマーダイアモンド、ミックスメタル、天然石を組み合わせたアイテムたち。

使用しているメタルは、ソリッドゴールド、ローズ&イエローゴールドフィル、燻し銀です。

12月の誕生石、トルコ石、ラピスラズリ、タンザナイトやジルコンも登場させたいと思ってます。

また素材のメタルたちが続々と届くので、色々と制作を追いつかせねば。

めっきり寒くなってきましたが、あったかくして風邪を寄せ付けず冬を乗り切りたいですね。

<Herkimer diamond necklace & earrings set in 14kt solid gold>

Silver had been my main metalwork material for years but lately I started introducing gold filled as you see here: https://joonijewelryinspiration.blogspot.com/2018/09/14kgf-goldfilled-jewelry.html and my customer’s request finally pushed me into the solid gold creation. 

Soldering solid gold is much easier than gold filled but the reason for the hesitation is obviously..the cost!

That causes pressure and nervousness not to allow any mistakes..

Yet, once passed, it’s a nice relief.

彫金はシルバーの域からなかなか出なかったのですが、

このところゴールドフィル（14KGF）のロウ付けがやっと苦にならなくなってきて、

お客様からのご依頼に背中を押され、なかなか実現できずにいたソリッドゴールドのデビューを果たしました。

ソリッドゴールドのロウ付けはゴールドフィルよりもやりやすいのですが、

なかなか踏み出せなかったのは、やはりコストの問題です。

絶対失敗できない、というプレッシャーと緊張感・・・

しかし、一度乗り越えるとなんだかスッキリ。

<Mixed Gem Bezel Style>

The necklace above is accented with 18k solid gold bezel around the pink sapphire drop.

Softer than 14k, 18k was easier to handle.

For the bracelet, I set amethyst cabochon in center & added a playful color mix.

＜ミックスストーン・ベゼルスタイル＞

ネックレスの方、ピンクサファイアは18金のアクセントを加えました。

柔らかいこともあり、14金よりもさらに細工しやすかったです。

ブレスレットはアメジストのカボションをセンターに、色で遊んでみました。

Smoky quartz bracelet was just finished yesterday.

Despite the simple design, it took much longer to finish than I expected but I’m satisfied with the look and the feel of the piece.

スモーキークオーツは、昨日仕上げたばかり。

シンプルなデザインな割に、予想以上に時間がかかってしまったのですが、着け心地もよくて満足な仕上がりです。

Dainty, Rustic, Boho Luxe Bracelets

I love making one-of-a-kind bracelets. I spend many hours deciding on color combinations.

When I sell them out, I get super excited about making some more of them.

So, it’s time to create new bracelets this week. Smokey quartz (3rd) and lapis lazuli (7tt, the last) are still available in my Etsy shop as of today.

一点もののブレスレット作りが大好きです。色の組み合わせを決めるのにいっぱい時間をかけます。

全部売り切れてしまうと、また次はどんなのを作ろうか、とワクワク気分。

というわけで、今週は新しいブレスレットに取りかかろうと思っています。スモーキークオーツ（3番目）とラピスラズリ（7番目、最後の画像）は本日まだ在庫ありです。

Gold & Silver Mixed Metal Jewelry

Mixing gold and silver has become my favorite thing. I can’t get enough of the pursuit of the“casual meets elegant” look.

I use both yellow gold filled and rose gold filled and sometimes copper. Rose gold and copper have a similar tone.

Gemstones seem to show more unique characters and colors when mixed with gold and silver setting.

ゴールドとシルバーの組み合わせにすっかりハマっています。「カジュアル＆エレガント」の追求は続く…

ゴールドフィルはイエローとローズを使い分け、時にコッパーも使用しています。

ローズゴールドとコッパーの色合いは似ていますよね。

ゴールドとシルバーの中に組み合わせると、天然石もなんだかさらに個性を増して独特な色を見せるように思えます。
