Over the Weekend

Just a quick visit to Old Town Orange Circle area on Saturday.

土曜日はオールドタウン・オレンジ・サークル周辺に遊びにいきました。

Chapman University is just a block away from the circle.
The university is especially known for its Law School, Business School and Film School.
We took a field trip inside the Law School building, you see, it even has its courthouse setting!
Also "The Barber" on the billboard at the university parking entrance was filmed by the alumni.

チャップマン大学は中心部から目と鼻の先。
この大学は特に、法学、ビジネス、映画、の分野が強いみたいです。
法学部の建物内を見学させていただきました。ほら、裁判所のセットまで！

駐車場入り口に据えられた「The Barber」の看板、これは卒業生の作った映画なんだそうで。

The town is full of cute boutiques, antique shops and cafes.

I didn't notice last time but this record shop looks like a gem.

街はかわいい洋服屋、アンティークショップ、カフェが建ち並んでいて、

前回気づかなかったのですが、このレコード屋さんは要チェックなかんじ。

These are from Sunday evening.

I didn't realize shops close so early on Sundays.

Around 7 o'clock the mall was already empty.

Although, koi fish, pretty windows and flowers are always there to please the eyes, 

which conclude my weekend perfectly.

こちらは日曜の夕方。

日曜はショップがこんなに早く閉まるんだったっけ。。

モール内は7時にはガラガラに。

とはいえ、鯉たち、ステキなショーウィンドウ、そして美しい花々が目を楽しませてくれ、

よいかんじに週末を締めくくることができました。

Tea Lounge in Rainy Day

Took a visit to down town Fullerton on a rainy Sunday evening.
Just 30 minutes drive but this was my first time in Fullerton.
The destination was this tea lounge called "Tranquil".

Oh I enjoyed the good tea in this cute little tea shop.
This must be a very popular spot too, although the whole town looked empty because of the pouring rain, the place was so crowded, people kept coming in that all tables were constantly full.
I had a green tea called "gunpoweder", which was a little smokey and I liked a lot.


雨の日曜日、ダウンタウンフラートンに行ってきました。
車で30分ほどなのですが、実はフラートンは初めて。
目的は「トランキル」というティ・ラウンジ 。

このこじんまりしたかわいいティ･ショップ。とても楽しかったです。
とても人気のようで、ざあざあ雨のせいで町はがらんとしているのに、
ここだけ大繁盛。人足が途絶えることなく、常に満席でした。
さて、いただいたのは、「ガンパウダー」という中国茶（緑茶）。
ほどよくスモーキーでとても気に入りました。

Sherman Library & Gardens

Finally took a visit to Sherman Library & Gardens in Newport Beach

that I was always curious when driving by.

いつも車で通り過ぎるたびに気になっていたニューポートビーチの

シャーマンライブラリー＆ガーデンズ。

The garden was partially under construction to be remodelled and reopen in March

but it was like a little paradise. The buzzing noise flew above my head that made me 

think of a huge wasp! -no, it was a cute little humming bird. They do make some 

intemidating noise... 

The cactus over here are way taller than the roof. 

Being surrounded by plants and flowers is such healing moment.

I will be back in March when they complete the other half of the garden,

hopefully on weekday when cafe and library are open. -they are all closed on weekend.

ガーデンは一部改装工事中で、3月にリオープンするとのことでしたが、

パラダイス感はじゅうぶんでした。頭上でブンブン音がして、一瞬

スズメバチを想像してかまえてしまいました！が、正体はかわいらしい

ハチドリでした。その名の通り、音だけだとちょっとハチっぽくて

ドキッとしてしまいます。。

ここのサボテンたちは屋根よりも遥か高くそびえ立っています。

植物たちや花たちに囲まれているとほんとに癒されますね。

また工事中の部分が完成する3月に訪れようと思います。

できれば、カフェも図書館も開いている平日に。（週末はどっちも閉まってるのです。）

Beach of the Day

Perfect way to end the day...

Beach Day & Long Necklace

 

Such a calm beach it was today.
Usually the shore is either too chilly or too hot but it was just so perfect.
Sitting down, stretching myself, breathing in and out, I am so recharged and ready for the new busy week!

今日のビーチはほんとに穏やかでした。
いつもは肌寒いか暑すぎかのどっちかなのに、ちょ～うどよかった。
腰を下ろしてストレッチと深呼吸。忙しい1週間に向けてパワー回復、準備オッケ～！

Completed this over the weekend.
Unique one-of-a-kind long necklace. Chain is handcrafted too.
I made some rock crystal earrings too. Will post tomorrow.

週末に仕上げた、ユニークな一点ものロングネックレス。
チェーンも手作りです。クリスタル（水晶）のイヤリングもいくつか作ったので、
また明日にでもアップします。

Orange Circle Antique Mall -オレンジサークルのアンティークモール

 

アンティーク街、オレンジサークルへ行って来ました。
最近アンティークもオンラインの方にどんどん流れていってるし、
特にそれが売りの街では掘り出し物なんてそうそうない気がしつつ、
やっぱり楽しい気分になりました。
店員さんも街行く人々も、「古きよき～」なかんじのフレンドリーさ。
オレンジカウンティではあまりお見かけしないレトロファッションの人々もちらほら。

ショップに所狭しと並ぶのはいかにもアメリカ～ンなものからヨーロピア～ンなものまで、イロイロ。
いいかんじのアンチーク手鏡を探しているのですが、それは空振りでした。
（Etsyで探してみよう。）

ランチは前回と同じくカフェ・ルッカで。イタリアンカフェってかんじですごくかわいいです。
ジェラートも種類豊富。

オレンジという街はアーバインから車で15分くらいなのに
気温がだいぶ高くて毎度のことながらビックリ。
夏の前のギリギリセーフな時期だったかも。楽しい散策でした。


Visited the antique town, Orange Circle.
Vintage things tend to go online lately and it seems harder to come across good finds in such a well-known antique town but still, it was fun to hang out.
The town has a "good old days" vibe with friendly staffs and people that walk by.
You also see people in retro fashion that is rarely seen in other parts of Orange County.

Shops are filled with old American or European antiques and vintages.
I've been looking for a nice hand mirror but no luck this time.
(I should go on Etsy.)

Just as the previous time, we had lunch at Cafe Lucca, which is the cutest little Italian Cafe that also serves a variety of gelato. 

Surprisingly as usual, Orange is a lot warmer than Irvine even though it's only like 15 minute drive. It might have been the perfect time visiting right before summer comes.
It was a fun exploration.
