Bougainvillea Paradise

The weather was moody today. Despite yesterday's heat with high humidity, it felt cooler and drier.

We are having a serious drought over here in Southern California.

This spring seemed rainier than usual, so the news of the drought surprised me.

We apparently needed a lot more rain than that.

You don't realize how much water you use daily until you actually try to conserve it.

Hope all the planted trees and flowers in town will survive this summer!

Anyhow, I dropped by at the park this evening to admire the year-round beauty of bougainvillea.

I keep forgetting that these bright pink parts are not flowers but "bracts" that surround the actual flowers.

See this teeny tiny less appealing white flower, it's the flower of bougainvillea.

I can't get enough of this pinkish red color, especially in such a cloudly gloomy day.

By the way, bougainvillea is a drought tolerant plant.
