Trip to Monterey --Aquarium

Just got back from the trip to Monterey.

Although I always felt that there was nothing fun to do while living there,

visiting the familiar places as a traveler is a different story.

The town and the people seem to appear differently and it has been becoming more

and more enjoyable each time of visits. I really needed this vacation.

Monterey Bay Aquarium was the big part in this trip. 

This was my third time, and my favorite part is still the orange jellyfish. 

So pretty yet so deadly when you get stung... so mysterious. 

Tunas, sardines, sea urchins... they are all healing to look at but at the same time

they triggered my appetite a little bit...! 

Looking up the water through the glass made me dream about diving.

It must be an incredible experience. Maybe one day...?

Colorful tropical fish bring back childhood memories at the beach of my home town. 

In that specific year, maybe like 25 years ago, because of irregular climates, 

there were so many amazingly vivid colored tropical fish swimming around 

in the water near the shore that I could actually admire them so closely snorkeling.   

It was such a dreamy moment as a kid that I would never forget. 

After spending a few hours with all kinds of fish, birds and animals, 

I was ready to get the fresh air and walk along the beautiful beach trail. 

モントレーの旅から帰ってきたところです。

住んでいた頃は、何もすることがなくて退屈に思えていたのに、

旅人として懐かしい場所をあれこれ訪ねてみるとこれまた全然違うものですね。

街や人々があの頃とは違って見えてきて、訪問のたびに楽しさが増す気がします。

どうやらこういうバケーションを欲していたようです。

モントレー・ベイ・アクエリアムは今回の旅のメインイベントでした。

3度目だったのですが、今でもお気に入りはオレンジのクラゲ。

こんなにきれいなのに刺されると致命的なところがなんとも神秘的。

マグロ、イワシ、ウニ・・・見ていると癒される、、と同時に、

美味しそう・・・！

水を下から見上げていると、ダイビングな気分。

きっと想像を絶する体験なんだろうなあ。いつの日か・・・？

色とりどりの熱帯魚を眺めていると蘇ってくる、実家近くのビーチでの思い出。

25年ほど前だったでしょうか、その年は異常気象のせいか、

目を見張るような鮮やかな熱帯魚たちが浅瀬で泳ぎ回っていて、

実際に間近でスノーケリングで愛でることができたのでした。

子供の頃の宝物のような思い出。

さて、魚や鳥や動物たちを眺めること数時間。

外の空気が吸いたくなり、ビーチ沿いの小道を歩くことにしました。
