Colorful Gemstone Jewels

I am building up some funky dainty fun colorful gemstone jewelry items in my shop!

I also wanted to share some jewelry books that I've been reading lately. 

I hope to talk more about it in my future post.

Stones shown here are carnelian, aventurine, moonstone, turquoise, coral, amazonite,

rhodolite garnet, peridot, amethyst, citrine, aquamarine, iolite, chrysoprase....did I cover all?

I like learning about each stone's history. More I read about it, more I realize that our ancestors enjoyed them fashionably but not without strong beliefs. Some gems were actually crushed into powder to be taken as medicines. Well, gems are in the end composed of minerals that I'm not surprised if they could make good supplements. Maybe I already mentioned this before but to me, gemstones are something mysterious beyond time and space. Knowing the stories behind these sparkling beauties makes them even more romantic and attractive. Stones like carnelian, turquoise, lapis lazuli have the longest history.

ファンキーカラフル天然石ジュエリーコレクションをじわじわと展開中です。

最近読んでいるジュエリー系の本もいくつかご紹介したかったのですが、これはまた別の機会に。

どんな石たちを使用したかというと、カーネリアン、アベンチュリン、ムーンストーン、ターコイズ、珊瑚、アマゾナイト、ロードライトガーネット、ペリドット、アメジスト、シトリン、アクアマリン、アイオライト、クリソプレーズ、などなど。

それぞれの石の歴史を知るのも面白いです。いろいろ読んでいくと、昔の人たちが装飾としてだけでなく強い信仰心を持って身につけていたということがますます分かってきます。とある石は粉状に砕かれて薬として服用されたりしたようで、まあ考えてみれば天然石もミネラルでできているわけだし、サプリとして効能があると言われればそれもあり得るだろう、と。すでに記したことかもしれないですが、私にとって宝石たちは時空を超えた神秘的な存在。このきらきらの美しい子たちにまつわる逸話を知ることで、ロマンと魅惑がさらに増すのです。カーネリアン、ターコイズ、ラピスラズリあたりは歴史も最長。
