Sunny Side Up

"How would you like your eggs?" was the question I was asked at the restaurant that I couldn't respond to when I first came to the U.S. "Sunny side up" would have been the correct answer if I knew how to say it. It's called "medama-yaki" in Japanese which means "fried eye". It sounds weird and kinda spooky when I translate it literally but I never thought it was strange growing up, using that word. I guess that's how the native language is. Then I learned there's "over easy" but my favorite is still "sunny side up". Eggs tend to be associated with cholesterol but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't eat them at all.
Apparently Japan has the highest rate of egg consumption in the world and one of the lowest rates of heart disease. (from BBC News) Egg is gooood. One egg a day, everyone!
