Chalcedony Stones

Those are all chalcedony stones with purplish blue, sky blue, hot pink, bright yellow, peachy pink, and darker yellow. Chalcedony is usually dyed or heat-treated to produce different colors and they say that dyeing generally doesn't affect the value of chalcedony. We may see the blue one on top the most and the sky blue one is very popular too. Although they are mostly dyed, colors seem to stay with no problem if handled properly. They are translucent beauty. Also chrysoprase, one of my favorite stones, and carnelian , both shown below, are considered to be chalcedony despite their name difference.

こ ちらは全て、「カルセドニー」です。紫がかったブルー、スカイブルー、ホットピンク、明るいイエロー、ピーチピンク、暗めのイエロー、などなど。カルセドニーはたいてい染色されているか、熱処理によってさまざまな色を生み出しますが、それによって価値が下がるということはないようです。一番上の紫がかった ブルーが一番よく見かけるタイプでしょうか。スカイブルーもとても人気のタイプです。ほとんどの場合は染色されているとはいえ、きちんとケアすれば変色の心配はありません。その半透明な美しさが魅力です。私の大好きな石、クリソプレーズとカーネリアン（下の写真）も、呼び名は違うものの、カルセドニーの 一種です。
