San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary

 

 

We spent this warm sunny Saturday afternoon at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary.

It's been a month since the last time I visited here.

The site of the hummingbirds keeps me smiling and excited.

Stunning red orange sparkled on its neck when hit by the direct sunlight.

What a beauty!

 

 

サン・ワキン野生動物保護地区で過ごす、暖かい土曜の午後。

前回来たのは一ヶ月前。

ハチドリたちを見るとついつい頬が緩み、わくわくしてしまう。

お日様効果で首のあたりが赤オレンジにピカピカ光ってる。

美しいなぁ。

 

 

 

 

These birds that were flying far up in the sky, which I assumed would be egrets, turned out to be...

 

ずっと空高く旋回していたこの方達、サギだろうと思いきや。。

 

 

 

 

American White Pelicans!

The bottom left on the image above shows the small island where numbers of them are hanging out already and that's where the ones in the air are about to join.

 

アメリカン・ホワイト・ペリカンだったのでした。

↑この写真の左下にちらりと見えているアイランドが溜まり場のようで、この後、続々と降り立っていきます。

 

 

 

 

Well, it's a zoom lens distance.

 

望遠レンズじゃないと無理な距離。

 

 

 

 

But I see the total number is ten (five couples?) that gathered up for a meeting.

I wonder if smaller black ones are the chicks.

It seems to be a mixture of different birds so I'm not sure on that one.

 

 

ですが、こんなかんじで合計10羽(5組のカップルかな？)の集会。

小振りの黒っぽいのは雛だろうか。

他の鳥も集っているようなので、定かじゃありません。

 

 

 

Unlike the far pelicans, this great blue heron stood so close that I could capture it very clearly. Thank you very much.

 

遠方のペリカンと引き換え、このオオアオサギはすぐそこにいたので

しっかり撮らせていただきました。

Back at home in the sunset time, they were there again.

Here's the male and the female joined shortly after.

They set their routine to spend there between 5pm to 6pm.

Such pretty eyes.

Photographing them might become my daily routine....

 

 

夕暮れ時に家に帰ると、また来てた。

ハトさん(オス)。この後、メスもジョイン。

どうやらうちで過ごすのは5時から6時と決めているみたい。

目がかわいい。

彼らを撮影するのが日課になってしまいそう。。
