Southern California Hot Summer Exploration

 

 

Hot summer has arrived and my day can't function without cups of (partially frozen) iced tea. 

Coffee shop hopping is what I love to do on some weekend & I've explored lots of them in town so far but there are still many more in my list.

MAZ cafe con leche in Santa Ana (Orange County) was one of the cozinest with spacious interior.

I enjoyed Horchata latte.

It closes at 6pm which is a bit too early for me as I tend to go out late especially in summertime...

The pink flower tree on the top was photographed near the cafe.

Summer flowers have been in full bloom these days and I've seen some pink ones too but this one seemed to be more vivid orangey pink tone than I usually see.

It turned out to be creme myrtle, first time seeing this color.

Exploration will continue.

猛暑の到来。(半分凍らせた)アイスティなしには1日が回らないような日々を送っております。

カフェ巡りは週末の楽しみのひとつで、近場のカフェはかなり巡ったものの、未開拓のところもまだまだあります。

オレンジカウンティ、サンタアナにあるマズ・カフェ・コン・レッチェはスペースもゆったりしていて、かなりまったりできる雰囲気。メキシカンなシナモンたっぷりオルチャータ・ラテをいただきました。閉店は6時、というのが早すぎて残念。サマータイムは特に、外出が遅くなってしまいがちなので....

一番上のピンクの木の花の写真は、カフェの近くでパシャリ。

夏の花たちが満開の今日この頃、あちこちで見かけるピンクの花の中でもこのピンクはさらに鮮やかなオレンジっぽいピンク。後にサルスベリと判明したのですが、いつも見るのとはちょっと違うような。

散策は続きます。

Akoya pearl, Japanrse red coral, herkimer diamond quartz, ametrine, labradorite, aquamarine, apatite, peridot & chrysoprase.

先週仕上げた新作イヤリングとブレスレットです。

あこやパール、日本赤サンゴ、ヘキマーダイアモンドクオーツ、アメトリン、ラブラドライト、アクアマリン、アパタイト、ペリドット、クリソプレーズを使用しています。

Bezel pendants featuring moonstone, labradorite, quartz and larimar.

The spiritual meanings of the stone, "Peace & Freedom", is stamped on the larimar pendant.

Dainty link bracelet is made out of Akoya pearl and a drop of moonstone.

These trio herkimer quartz rings and copper moon ring are what I've been wearing lately.

(Speaking of, it's a beautiful full moon tonight!)

ムーンストーン、ラブラドライト、クオーツ、ラリマーをベゼル留めにしたペンダントたち。

ラリマーのペンダントには、石の意味「Peace ＆ Freedom」の刻印を入れました。

繊細なリングのブレスレットはお馴染みのあこやパールと、小さなムーンストーンの雫を添えました。

このヘキマークオーツのトリオリングとコッパーのお月様リングは

自分でも最近着用しているもの。

（月といえば、今夜はきれいな満月です）

 

 

 

And these are collaborations with The Hearth Shop in Carmel.

Each glass ball contains dandelion fluffs hunted in Yosemite Park by the owner of the shop.

This is the biggest fluffs I've ever seen, by the way! They measured at least 2" in diameter. Wow.

The sterling silver caps on balls are also handcrafted and stamped like "Breathe", "Wish" and "Hope".

We are thinking that "Let go"  and "Joy" will be the next.

そしてこちらはカーメルのザ・ハース・ショップとのコラボレーション。

ショップのオーナーがヨセミテ公園で収集したタンポポの綿毛をガラス玉の中に入れています。

こんな巨大な綿毛はみたことがない！というほどのサイズ。直径5センチはありました。驚き。

ガラス玉に被せているスターリングシルバーのキャップも手作りで、

それぞれ「Breathe」「Wish」「Hope」という刻印入りです。

「Let go」と「Joy」が次の候補です。

 
 

It's been very hot in these past few days in Southern California, while my home town Fukuoka had one of the worst storms with serious floods. My folks had been telling me that they had the best spring season this year with the exceptionally gorgeous cherry blossoms and also that the rainy season hasn't been as nasty as usual. I was happy to hear all that, then this happened.

Praying for its quick recovery....

南カリフォルニアはここ数日ほど猛暑を迎えています。一方、実家の福岡は洪水災害。

今年の春は近年稀なほどの心地よさで桜も格別にきれい、梅雨に突入しても例年よりもずっと過ごしやすい、などと両親から聞いていただけに、なんともショッキング・・・。

早く回復しますように、と祈っています。

Fireworks light up the perfectly dark clear sky, looking like a variety of pretty nebulas,

concluded with a fabulous finale.

The powerful vibration set the car alarms off everywhere!

I feel like July has now officially started after this.

We are in the second half of the year already. Wow.

一点の曇りもない夜の空を彩る花火。まるで星雲のよう。

派手なフィナーレで締めくくり。

強い振動のせいで、あちこちで車のアラームが！

さて、これで7月が正式に始まったかんじがします。

今年もすでに後半に突入。早いー。
