Quick Trip to La Jolla

It was a beautiful day in La Jolla, San Diego. Luckily it was also a very smooth ride without any traffic. Instead of exloring tourists' areas, we cruised around a beautiful residential area on top of the hill and then drove down to a quiet beach to relax. Going to the places that the locals would go (like grocery stores and coffee shops) is a lot more fun.Since it's right next to Mexico, you see some Mexican flavors here and there but at the same time surf culture is huge in San Diego. You find so many surfers walking with their boards on the street. Our quick trip ended peacefully with sunset. Adios, La Jolla San Diego!

サンディエゴのラホヤは快晴でした。ラッキーなことに渋滞にも巻き込まれず。観光名所を開拓する代わりに高台の住宅街をドライブ、それから静かなビーチに降りてリラックスするというコースにしました。地元の人が行くようなところ（マーケットとかカフェとか）の方が断然楽しかったりします。メキシコのすぐお隣なので、メキシカンなかんじが色んなところに伺えるのですが、同時にサーフィンのメッカでもあるサンディエゴ。通りにはサーフボードを片手に歩くサーファー達がたくさんでした。そして日没と共に小旅行は無事終了。アディオス、ラホヤサンディエゴ！

We do a little bit of exploring here and there on weekend.
We tend not to get out of our neighborhood, but once in a while we cruise around outside of OC.
Where we end up stopping by are no difference wherever we go though ; beaches, cafes, and cute shops :) They are what make me happy and inspire me.

Believe or not, I hadn't been to Malibu till today. "Malibu Country Mart" had a lot of interesting shops. The shops that Japanese girls are familiar with such as "Kitson", "Ron Herman", "Grom", etc. There are also some flagship shops like Alice + Olivia and James Perse inside this cute mall. I liked Anouk. (←very Californian) I liked the woody & earthy architectural layout. There are some fish tanks set up in one area where colorful tropical fishes are swimming around. Loved it:)

Btw, macaron is so cute......I couldn't help taking a photo!

週末はあちこちちょびっと探索に出かけたりします。
近所からあまり出ないことが多いのですが、たまにOCから出てドライブしたりもします。たいてい行き着く先はどこに行っても、ビーチ、カフェ、かわいいショップ、と同じだったりするのですが、、、。私がハッピーな気持ちになれてインスピレーションを見い出せる場所なのです。

何を隠そう、マリブには今日の今日まで行ったことがなく、、、。『マリブカントリーマート』にはたくさんいいかんじのショップが入っていました。日本人女子におなじみのキットソン、ロンハーマン、グロムなどなど。アリスアンドオリビア、ジェイムスパースなどのフラッグショップも。アヌークがとってもカリフォルニアなかんじでかわいかった。ウッディな建物の作りもステキでした。水槽が設置されている場所があり、カラフルな熱帯魚が泳ぎ回っていたり。

ところで、マカロンてほんとにかわいいわー。ついついパシャリ！

La Jolla, San Diego

La Jolla, San Diego is about one and half hour away from where I am. Right when we arrived, the sound of sea lions caught our attention. We decided to get near those guys climbing down a cliff. There were 5 or 6 swimming around, shouting intensely. There was one laying on the rock, not joining the other guys. It was a bit of a zoo experience.

The sand on the beach is whiter than OC beaches. Walking on it is like walking on snow. It's crispy and makes squeaky noise as you walk on it. La Jolla is a very touristy town that reminds me a bit of Monterey.

サンディエゴのラホヤは家から１時間半ほど南です。到着するやいなや、アシカ達の声。崖を降りてちょっと彼らに近づいてみることにしました。５、６頭がすいすい泳ぎながら激しく鳴いていました。一頭だけ、岩に寝っころがって他の仲間達には参加していない子が。ちょっぴり動物園な体験でした。

ビーチの砂はOCよりもずっと白い印象。歩いてみると、雪の上を歩いているみたいにさくさくしていて、きしきし音がします。ラホヤはかなりの観光地で、ほんの少しだけモントレーを思わせます。

There's a new art movement going on in Downtown Santa Ana.
Santa Ana Artwalk is also the event that's held once every month.
I've never been to this event but I walked around this new hip neighborhood the other day.
My favorites, Memphis Cafe and Gypsy Den Cafe are across the street from each other.
I am excited to see this art village to grow more and more in the future.

ダウンタウンサンタアナにて、新たなアート系の動きが見られます。
サンタアナアートウォークは月一で行われるイベント。
まだ行ったことがないのですが、先日はこの新しいお洒落スポットを散策してみました。
お気に入りのメンフィスカフェとジプシーデンカフェもお向かい同士。
このアートビレッジ、今後の更なる発展を期待しています。

Girard Avenue Collection

Found a cute antique shop called "Girard Avenue Collection" on Girard Ave in La Jolla. The shop is filled with home accessories and unique furniture. Next door is also a cute shop called "Seaside Home".
Girard Avenue is lined up with lots of pretty boutiques and furniture shops that I would love to spend some hours to walk around.  


ラ・ホヤ（サンディエゴ）のギラード通りに ギラード・アベニュー・コレクションというかわいいアンティークショップを見つけました。中は雑貨や個性的な家具でいっぱい。隣りのお店も「シーサイド・ホーム」というかわいいお店。
ギラード・アベニューは、散策にじっくり時間をかけたいような、かわいい洋服屋や家具屋でいっぱいです。
