Lovely Sunday Sunset Beach

It was around 5:30 when I arrived at the beach.

The full moon had already shown up in the slowly darkening sky,

while the other side of the sky was the sinking sun.

ビーチに到着したのは5時半頃で、

真ん丸お月さんがまだ明るい空にすでに顔を出していて、

対極には沈みかけの太陽。

Sitting down on the sand, I held my camera towards the great ocean under the sunset sky.

Whether knowing that I've been into photographing birds lately or not,

this young seagull flew straight towards me, landed and walked very close to me.

Look at this philosophical, wisely looking appearance!

Although inside his head might be this:

"I thought she would have something to eat, oh well, never mind!"

砂浜に腰を下ろし、夕焼けの大海原へカメラを向ける。

最近鳥ばかり撮っていることを察知してか否か、

一羽のカモメが飛んできて、大胆に歩み寄ってきた。

カメラを向けると、なんとも哲学者のような賢そうな表情ではないですか。

その思考たるや、

「この人、餌くれそうだと思って近づいたのに、当てが外れたかなー」

なのかもしれないけれど。

Then these mini birds ran through out of nowhere,

and rushed away with such short and quick steps.

First time seeing this kind.

I learnt it is called "sanderling".

(It is "Miyubi-shigi" in Japanese and "miyubi" means three fingers, lacking the back finger.)

Maybe that helps this bird run so crazy fast.

The size and the restless move make it look like a miniature toy. Such a comical bird!

The speed in the dim light made it hard to capture the right moment.

その後、このミニチュアみたいな小さな鳥

がとことことこーっとどこからともなく猛突進してきて、

またすごい勢いで走り去って行った。

初めて見る鳥。

正体は、 「ミユビシギ」と判明。

名の由来は、後指がない三指、ということらしい。

だからこそなのか、その走りっぷりといったら、眼を見張るほどのすばしっこさ。

やたらと小さいし、動きがオモチャみたいで思わず笑ってしまう愛らしさ。

薄暗い中での活発な動きだったので、なかなかシャッターチャンスは困難でした。

After the sun completely sank, seagulls stood straight in line along the shoreline.

Very pretty looking.

This weekend was full of naturalistic adventure.

太陽がすっかり沈んでしまうと、波打ち際に整列するカモメたち。

なんだか絵になる。

自然三昧な週末でした。

I'm expecting some jewelry findings in the new week,

so I'm turning the switch back to the jewelry mode!

来週はジュエリーの材料が少々届くので、

ジュエリーモードに戻るとします。
