Birds of the Day - William Mason Regional Park

 

 

 

Spent Valentine's Day afternoon in William Mason Regional Park,

welcomed like this by Goose trio.

 

 

ウィリアム・メイソン・リージョナル・パークで過ごす、

バレンタインデーの午後。グーストリオのお出迎え。

 

 

 

 

This is a strange looking tree. I wonder what kind it is.

 

 

この木変わってる。なんていう木だろう。

 

 

 

 

And this black bird with a white beak...

I learnt it is called American Coot.

I failed to capture but it has red eyes. A little bit scary looking.

 

 

そしてこの黒くてクチバシの白い鳥。

アメリカオオバンというそうです。

撮影失敗ながら、赤い目をしています。よく見るとちょっと怖い。。

(クイナっぽい、と思ったら、やっぱりクイナ系でした。)

 

 

 

 

Here are the lovebirds of the day.

There were so many duck mates flying, floating and walking everywhere and this couple was stayed close to me for a while. At one point, the male got very busy with shaking and puffing up his head, maybe trying to impress his lady, while her mind seemed too busy deciding when to fly away.

 

 

本日のラブラブさん。

アヒルのカップルたちは至る所で飛んだり浮いたり歩いたりしていたのですが、こちらの彼らは間近でしばらくじっとしていてくれました。殿方がしきりに頭を振ったり毛羽立てたりと、彼女の気を引こうとしている様子なのに対し、彼女の方はいつ飛び立とうかとそわそわしているようなシーンも。

 

 

 

 

Birds here are not so afraid of people.

They fly away when you get too close to them but they let you look at them close enough.

Here's the seagull looking straight in my eyes.

 

 

ここの鳥さんたちはあまり人を恐れないようで。

あまりに近づくと飛び立ってしまうけれど、じゅうぶん間近で眺めさせてくれます。

こちらのカモメさんはしっかりカメラ目線。

 

 

 

 

Lastly but not least, this majestic white egret landed on the top of the tree.

Yes, it was a good looking one.

 

 

最後を飾るのはこちら、木のてっぺんに降り立った威風堂々たるシロサギさん。

ほんと、なんとも立派ないでたちでした。
