Amber seems to be easy to fake. Although the amber beads that I brought back from Japan came from the legitimate gem show, I decided to test the authenticity. Following the guidance on "Complete Metalsmith" by Tim McCreight, I burned the tip of the needle and touched on the amber bead. Wow!! Amazing result was the lovely smell of pine woods. When it's fake it smells like plastics. How interesting! The book also mentions that the smell of burning amber helps a woman in labor. I can get addicted to this smell. It was that good!
コハクをニセるのは簡単とのこと。日本から持ち帰ったアンバーのビーズ達はちゃんとした展示会での入手だとはいえ、本物かどうかの実験を試みることにしました。ティム・マックレイト著の『コンプリート・メタルスミス』のガイダンスに従い、針の先っぽを焼いて、コハクにちくっと触れてみました。するとすると！！なんとも香ばしい桧のような匂い。ニセモノだとプラスチックのような匂いだとのこと。へー！本にはその他、このコハクを焼いた匂いは女性の出産時によいとも記されています。ほんとにクセになりそう。それほどいい匂いでした！
