Weekend by the Sea

 

Visited the most tourist-y spot in Long Beach yesterday.

Walking along the harbor felt like quite a workout on such a glittering sunny day, may have been enough time to burn my skin -my face and arms felt so warm at night.

A view from the lighthouse hill is open and refreshing, especially outstanding is the rumored haunted Queen Mary. The ship is now used as a hotel, restaurant and museum. It was my favorite location for the international gems show too. They discountinued to host the event 4 years ago.

And this tall historical building near the harbor is "Villa Riviera". This French gothic beauty was built in 1929 by the architect named Richard D. King, and is now a condo or some apartments for rent, wow, can you imagine living here?

Crowds and the direct sunlight must have worn me out. I got drowsy very quickly after dinner.

 

昨日はロングビーチの観光スポットを訪れました。太陽ギラギラのお天気の日に歩くハーバー。けっこういい運動になり、時間的にも肌を焼くほどだったらしくて、夜には顔や腕が火照っていました。

灯台の丘から見渡す風景は開放的で爽快、特にクイーンマリー号(幽霊が出るとか出ないとか…)が目立っていました。船は現在ホテル、レストラン、博物館として活用されているとのこと。実はここ、国際宝飾展示会の会場としては一番よかったのですが、4年ほど前に中止になってしまったのでした。

ハーバー近くにそびえ建つこの歴史を感じさせる建築物は『ヴィラ・リヴィエラ』。立派なフレンチゴシック様式。1929年に建築家リチャードD.キングによって建てられたそうで、今はコンドミニアムもしくは賃貸アパートなんだそうです。こんな住まい、ちょっと想像できないかもー。

人混みと直射日光で思いのほか堪えたようで、夕食後はあっという間に睡魔に襲われました。
