Friday afternoon, another hot day!

 

Picked up some books at library in the next town, stopped by this nice cozy cafe on the way to enjoy a glass of iced tea. Three roses in a cute small vase decorated each table, releasing a lovely scent. I always liked this little place but I don't remember when was the last time I stepped in. Customers seem to be all local regulars giving the lively community vibe that I don't encounter in my neighborhood.

 

Warm feeling. I will drop by again.

 

 

 

 

金曜の午後。また暑い！

 

隣町の図書館でいくつか本を借り、帰りにこのまったりステキなカフェに立ち寄りアイスティを一杯。各テーブルには3本の薔薇が入った小さな可愛い花瓶が飾られ、なんともよい香り。お気に入りだったのに、最後いつ訪れたか覚えてないほど久しぶり。お客はみんな地元の常連といったかんじで和気藹々。うちの近所にはない、"コミュニティ"な雰囲気。

 

ほんわか暖かい。また寄ろう。

Yes, they are still here!

 

They are quite restless and face expressions also change a lot when you look at them closely.

 

That's why I tend to press the shutter too many times till they get annoyed and sometimes fly away.

 

They might see me as a paparazzi. Ok, I gotta leave them alone now.

 

 

When I bright up these dove stories to my dad and told him that I've become quite a "dove lady" lately, he confessed that he was once a "dove boy" who built a wooden house for it all by himself.

 

Like father, like daughter.

 

He's very curious about you guys, Oscar and Lulu.

You need to put up with modeling sometimes!

 

 

 

相変わらずのハトさんたち。

 

落ち着きのない彼ら。よくよく見てたら顔の表情もころころ変わる。

 

なのでついついシャッターを切りすぎてしまって嫌がられ、しばし飛び立たれてしまいます。

 

パパラッチだと思われてるかも。そっとしておかねば。

 

 

ハトの話を父にし、最近めっきりハト女と化していることを打ち明けたところ、実は父自身もハト少年であったことが判明。子供の頃、木製のハト小屋を作ったんだそうで。

 

親子だね、という話になったのでした。

 

というわけで、オスカー、ルル。

君たちのことを気にかけている父のためにも、またたまにモデルになってね。

 

 

 

New Jewels

 

 

It's been quite a productive jewelry making week so far.

I've been good at keeping habits of sketching designs and knocking them down one by one.

I learnt that knowing the limit of whether the design can be put into practice or not 

would makes such a difference.

There are some more designs for bracelets and necklaces on the sketch book 

that are waiting to be formed!

 

 

今週はなかなかいい感じに捗っています。

ちゃんとデザインをスケッチしてひとつずつこなしていくという習慣を守りつつ。

そのデザインが実現できるものなのか否かという限界をちゃんと分かってるかどうかで

だいぶ違うということも学び、、、。

スケッチブックにはまだブレスレットとネックレス数点、 待機しているデザインがあります。

 

 

 

Hammered Links ◎ Mixed Stone & Raw Diamond

 

 

New creation~

Enjoyed creating these.

Lots of links as usual but this time, I made a little change, by mixing gold and silver together and also for the bezel necklace, I made a cluster under the link.

Deciding the stone combination is always a fun part of it.

After going through different choices, tiny raw diamond bead anchored the circle hoop earrings. These diamond chips are the very last ones I had in stock but I might get some more to create something like this again.

楽しい創作のひとときでした。

いつものようにたくさんの◎リングながら、今回はちょっと変化をつけて、ゴールドとシルバーを混ぜたり、ベゼルネックレスの方は、リングの下にじゃらっと石をつけてみたり、というスタイルにしてみました。

石の組み合わせを考えるのはいつもながら面白い作業。

イヤリングの方は、ぽちっと下に一粒添える石をあれこれ迷った挙句、ダイアモンド原石に決定。在庫最後の二粒だったのですが、他にも作りたいかんじなので、もっと仕入れようかと考え中。

Beautiful Saturday at the beach...

 

Stopped by Urth Caffe in Laguna Beach and had an amazing cup of African (rooibos) Tea Latte that I liked a lot but it will probably be my first and last time visiting there because of the scarce parking and the crowdedness that's not really my thing....

 

The place like JC Beans Coffee House in Dana Point would have been a better choice to spend a cozy, relaxing evening.

 

The new week will start again.

It will be a stormy rainy week if the forcast is right.

 

 

気持ちの良い土曜日、ビーチにて。

 

帰りにラグナビーチのアースカフェに寄り、アフリカン(ルイボス)ティーラテをいただき、とっても美味しかったものの、駐車するの大変だし混み混みすぎて、、、今回が最初で最後かなー。

 

デイナポイントの、JCビーンズコーヒーハウスの方が、のんびり心地よい夜のひとときを過ごすにはよかったな。

 

なんて言っているうちに、また新しい週が始まります。

予報が正しければ、嵐が来るようです。

 

New Jewelry, TV, Doves and Turtle..

 

 

 

The week has passed very quickly while I was away from blogging..

I worked on a few made-to-order or custom made jewelry this week.

More time was spent making them than expected as always.

I wish I could make more but I know it's better not push the limit...

I was playing the last season of Mad Men while working.

TV is facing my back while my focus isn't fully on, 

and also my English vocabulary can't catch up sometimes but...what a show!

 

 

 

ブログから少し遠ざかっている間に今週も終わり。

今週は、ご依頼をいくつかいただき、取り掛かっておりました。

いつものように、思ったよりも時間がかかってしまいました。

もっと沢山作れればいいなといつも思うのですが、無理は禁物と言い聞かせつつ。

作業中、「マッドメン」(テレビ)の最終シーズンをばーっと流してました。

テレビの画面には背を向けた状態でしっかり集中してみていない上に、

英語のボキャがついていけないとこがありながら、なんちゅうドラマだ！と。

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I first started watching it a while back, 

I got so addicted to it and then suddenly got sick of it. 

I guess its same ol "madness" and I don't know, "cockiness"? 

suddenly got me down, realizing that I can't find anyone that I like or feel related to in this show.

 

As someone who didn't grow up in this culture, though, 

I did learn something through it in the end. 

Something still vague in my head but I hope to write about one day.

 

 

このドラマ、以前見始めの頃、ものすごくハマってしまい、

そして急遽見たくなくなってしまい、そのままになっていたのでした。

見ているうちにおんなじ「狂気」の繰り返し、そして「気取り」すぎというか、

登場人物もみんななんか好きになれないし、共感もできないし、

と突如うんざりしてしまったのでした。

 

とはいえ、この国に生まれ育ってないからこその、

なるほど、と学ぶ部分も大いにあったりして。

まだ頭の中でモヤーンとしているけれど、いつか綴れたらいいな。
