Budding, Blooming, Fading, Fallen Flowers

It was a perfect day for a walk with a camera.

Maybe because I didn't grow up with it, bougainvillea gives me a foreign, vacation feel.
Bright red and magenta pink are such happy colors.
Rare colors include yellow, orange, purple, light pink and white.

Did you know this pink part is actually considered a leaf, not a flower?
The actual flower of this plant is a teeny tiny white one inside this colorful "bract".
What an interesting fact. 

I sat in the middle of the pathway of the dreamy bougainvillea field,
started releasing the shutter, looking closer and further at the lovely object through the lens.

Flowers -let me just call this a flower, are of course pretty in full bloom but so are
fading and fallen ones.
I often run into bunnies and squirrels in this park so when I heard  some rustling sound
here and there around me underneath the bush, I thought of the little creatures
jumping out in any moment.
Turned out, they were the fallen bracts that are making the sound when blown by the wind.
I found it so pretty.

Meanwhile, roses weren't happening much, with just a few budding, blooming,
fading and falling, looking feisty with the everlasting thorns.
I enjoyed all the variation.

I heard we will be having record-high temperature this week again.
I want to enjoy the most out of it while it's still cool.


お散歩日和の一日でした。

たぶん、育った環境にて身近な存在ではなかったからというものあるのでしょうか、
ブーゲンビリアには異国情緒的バカンス的風情を感じます。
鮮やかな赤と濃いピンクはなんとも楽しい色合い。
その他、あまり見かけないですが、黄色、オレンジ、紫、淡いピンクや白などもあります。

このピンクの部分は実は花ではないとご存知でしたか？
このカラフルな「包葉」の中の小さな小さな白いのが実際の花なんだとか。
おもしろいですよね。

この夢のようなブーゲンビリアの茂みの真ん中に座り込んで
シャッターを切り始めました。レンズを通して近づいたりちょっと離れてみたり。

お花というものは（ブーゲンビリアもお花と呼ばせてもらおう）
満開はもちろんきれいだけど、枯れ始めや落ちてしまったものも味があります。
この公園ではよくウサギやリスに出くわすので、 茂みの下の
あちこちからかさかさっ、かさかさっと音がするたびに、
小動物ちゃんが飛び出してくるのではないかと思ったのですが、
どうやら落ちた包葉が風に吹かれて鳴っている音だったのでした。
その様子がなかなか趣深く感じました。

一方、バラはあんまり奮っていませんでした。
ほんの疎らに、つぼみをつけていたり、花開いていたり、
朽ちていたり、地面に落ちていたり。棘だけは常に勇ましく。
そんな変化（へんげ）を存分と堪能させてもらいました。


今週はまたまた記録的な酷暑が襲ってくるらしいです。
まだ涼しい間にこういうふうに楽しんでおこうと思います。
